The bustling market town of Kingsbridge is a fantastic destination for a holiday in the South Hams. At the head of the Salcombe ria (it is not technically an estuary although looks very much like one), theres plenty of fun to be had on the water, paddle boarding and sailing, but if youre not tempted to get your feet wet, the town has a welcome combination of both independent and high street shops and cafes.
There are plenty of great beaches within a short drive of Kingsbridge, including the family friendly and popular surf spot at Bantham, the 3 mile long historic Slapton Sands, and if you love rock pooling, then make sure you visit South Milton Sands at low tide to enjoy the wildlife surrounding the iconic Thurlestone rock arch.
Theres a weekly and very colourful market in nearby Totnes which is well worth a visit, and the waterside town of Dartmouth is also within easy reach. For walkers and their canine companions, there are plenty of fantastic footpaths nearby including the South West Coast Path which can be accessed within a few miles.
After a hard days holidaying, you can relax in one of the towns pubs and enjoy some great food at one of the cafes and restaurants. And if you really want to get away from it all, why not treat yourself to a film night at the wonderfully small but perfectly formed, Reel Cinema.
This is a truly romantic destination with the spacious and inviting living room, magnificent Georgian fireplace, limestone flooring, comfortable and elegant furniture and is the perfect place to unwind and really leave the world behind you, especially once you have enjoyed the complimentary bottle of wine.
